The MedGem is the FDA approved version of the BodyGem.
It is a medical tool used to determine your resting metabolic rate RMR (often called BMR - Basal Metabolid Rate) and your VO2.
Your resting metabolic rate (RMR) is unique to you and
is the number of calories you burn daily.
Knowing the number of calories you naturally burn at rest
is a valuable tool in determining the apporpriate amount of food to eat daily, and the amount and type of exercise you need to accomplish your health and fitness goal. |
|
Your Consultation includes a personalized report of your current fitness assessment and information
to guide you towards your fitness goals. This information is crucial to help the client make educated nutritional choices. |
|
While your unique goals, current health and fitness, and available resources will influence your Fitness Training
program, some general guidelines are as follows:
Calories in (with little or no activity) <RMR = unhealthy weight loss
Calories in - calories burned < RMR = healthy weight loss
Calories in + strength training > RMR = lean mass gain
Calories in ( with little or no activity) > RMR = fat gain
Improvements in your RMR is proof that exercise and good nutrition have impacted your health in ways you
cannot see in the mirror or on a scale. |

"To avoid the muscle deterioration caused by my muscular dystrophy, I take my weight
training sessions seriously. I am so glad I did your metabolic test because it made me realize that the 2200 calories I was eating a day was not enough since I burn 2370 at rest. No wonder I was getting smaller!" Bill F., Tampa |

To more effectively self-manage your daily food and exercise,
we recommend you purchase the BalanceLog software ($20). |

"Getting my MedGem score & lean weight measured has radically altered not only my
approach to fitness, but my ultimate goal. Before I knew my body composition I was under the erroneous impression that I could diet my way to my goals. Afterward seeing the figures I realized that I simply didn't have the muscle mass I needed to balance out the picture. So now instead of dieting further I have begun a program of weight- training in order to build more muscle mass and reduce the percentage of body-fat by increasing my lean mass." Ken Corley, Tampa |
